AudioRealism Drum Machine (ADM)

Remember the AudioRealism Drum Machine? Looks like it's had a bit of a face lift.

Details:
" Booming bassdrums, saucy cymbals and crispy snares can be used to describe the sound of drum machines from the early 80's. ADM contains three classic vintage drum machines from that era rolled into one, combined with a 32-step internal sequencer and pattern controlled fx (PCF). Get all your patterns into ADM via the Import Rebirth function or directly from your old 909 via sysex (we will provide a free tool for dumping sysex).

Sounds

ADM contains 25 drum generators, each one carefully modeled after the classics' analog circuits and 4 PCM players, for a total of 34 sounds (some generators have two sounds). Certain sounds have been extended with extra parameters, like the tuning and attack of the 606 bassdrum. The accents effect on bridged-T oscillators that make up the bassdrum and tom-tom sounds has been closely simulated and the hihats and cymbals sound and react very close to the originals.

The complete list of sounds is as follows: BD808, BD909, BD606, SD808, SD909, SD606, LT808, MT808, HT808, LC808, MC808, HC808, LT909, MT909, HT909, LT606, HT606, RS808, CL808, RS909, MA808, CP808, CP909, CB808, CRASH909*, OH606, OH808, OH909*, CH606, CH808, CH909*, CY606, CY808, RIDE909*."

  1. Arrgh! I HATE the UI of this and 99% of other software, why do they have to make it look like a hardware product? It makes it really irritating when looking at stuff on the web thinking there is some new hardware coming out only to find it is software, its even worse on ebay when stuff like this gets listed under the Synths category.

Not too mention it is sooo tacky and so 90s, first we had fake wood, then fake tits, now fake music gear. Like all fakes its never as good as the real thing.

Companies like Ableton have the right idea, forget all the wanky looking 3d shite and make it look like a computer program, it makes for a much nicer to use interface.

  2. i agree with what you said except i think the ableton ui is also hideous and unusable, just modernly so.

  3. Ui design apart i'm curious how it sounds compared to the originals. Having a virtual replacement of 3 classic drum machines with extenden parameters as an affordable Vsti isn't that bad for
a mobile setup.depending wether you are using TR sounds in your music.
I liked their 303 emulation quite a lot and i didn't want to.
Pitty it cannot load your own samples too.

  5. I made a VSE thread about this a month ago...

  6. Whoever comes out with the first sonically identical 909 and 808 clone in an x0x style hardware box, analog with modern parameters of course, wins.
It's quite obvious, so why hasn't anyone done it?
(And no, the Jomox Xbase 999 is nowhere near and is not nearly as stable or reliable as either the 909 or 808...)
I Iove my 999, but my 808 and 909 never fail me and are not nearly as noisy as the 999. Oh and the 808 and 909 don't freeze either.

  8. I've got a novel idea... how about NOT doing XOX clones, and do something original? There are already plenty of these clones out there. I wanna see something like the Waldorf Attack. A nice proper percussion synth. I don't use computers for production, but having a nice percussion synth vsti is nice for sampling. But, people are still stuck on the 808/909 thing i guess.

  9. Theres a REALLY great reason people are stuck on the 808/909 thing...
If you want abstract rythmic sounds sample a modular or something else like the waldorf attack.
But as far as DRUM machines go, you really can't beat the 808 and 909. And for good reason.
Alot of people get all tied up about 808 and 909 and the usage of them but there alot of non 808/909 tunes in existence that do NOT sound like typical 808 and 909. And given the context of these tunes , one might not even think that they were done with an 808 and 909...
So there ARE ways to use them that don't exploit them in stereotypical ways...
It's all in the mix and context of the production.
