No one in their right mind would pay over $800 for this. You can build your own for less than $500:

but $4500 gets you vintage.
ReplyDeletenope, paying $4500 for that will get you to the mental institue...
ReplyDeleteI've purchased four 182 sequencers on ebay in the past 2-1/2 years and paid from $675 to $825.
ReplyDeleteDid I just fall asleep and wake up in an alternate universe where they are five times more valuable?
Everything seems to be going up in price though. Vintage analogue must be on some symbiotic ascending portamento scale. Remember when you could get an SH-101 for $75 easy?
ReplyDeleteI don't think this represents anything going up in price. I think it's just wishful thinking that the thing is very valuable and that smeone with money to throw away will come along. I guess there might be entry level psychology at work. Putting it on ebay at $4500 might make a private sale for say $2000 seem like a real super deal (despite the fact that it's not going to legitimately sell for $4500) and provided no one else will publically sell one for typical market value in the time being.
ReplyDeleteTake it this way, if this actually legitimately sells there will suddenly be a lot of them on the market (it's not common but not very rare) from people wanting to fund buying better gear. If it doesn't sell, well the next one will peobably sell for the $700 or $800 they really do sell for.
The only stuff actually going up is gear a whole bunch of people really want bad right now, because then it becomes a sellers market if it's going to take a really high selling price for someone who has one to let it go. And of course the opposite makes sense. There's a lot of gear few people want and lots of people want to get rid of. Don't expect collecors prices on that stuff any time soon.
and it sold for $1650
