Good luck to ever wins that thing!
ReplyDeleteA Crumar piece I've never seen before. Looks like an Orchestrator with organ tabs instead of the little plastic stops.
ReplyDeleteI'd be weary of this thing. Caution to those interested! If you notice, the wood looks like it's starting to go bad. Also some pieces look like they're missing. Make sure this machine has been calibrated! These things are a bitch to calibrate. Also I'd ask if this particular instrument has been modified. Honestly, many machines that have been "modified" by "technicians" may lose value. Especially if they've been installed without aesthetics in mind. This one does not appear to have a MIDI retrofit. That may make this auction less competitive (IE - better for you, the buyer). This is an electronic synthesizer. I would not recommend this for children learning how to play piano for the first time. The action is different, as are the sounds, and children should definitely learn how to play first on a real piano.
ReplyDeleteThe great Electronic Violist Nash the Slash used one of these in his rig back in the late 70s early early 80s and can be heard on his early albums. Outstanding sounding machine, or at least was in his hands (or feet as he seemed to control it with bass pedals of some sort). He would run sequences off it live and mess with them via a big pile of filters and gear.
