This is an alternative keyboard system - the name of it is escaping me, but the basic idea was to make it easier to learn/play and allow movement in 2 dimensions instead of 1.
ReplyDeleteIt probably is better, but like Dvorak vs. Qwerty, it's next to impossible to oust a system that's "good enough".
I'm using Dvorak to type this. I like it much better than QWERTY, much easier to touch type. There's no need to oust QWERTY, because each user can switch whenever they're ready. It's probably like the pictured keyboard, if you take the time to learn it you can have whatever rewards the system offers.
ReplyDeleteCan this keyboard give me a massage?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it should be able to give a massage.
Magic Finger sort of...
somebody was selling a synth on ebay with the same keyboard style - wasn't a korg though...here you go...

it's a chromatone!
The eBay auction above has some embedded YouTube videos -- this one appears to show the red Korg plus the "Chromatone" up for auction.

This is the "Wholetone Revolution" keyboard, a predecessor of the "Chromatone" made, I believe, by the same people. They're both von Janko retrofits of existing synthesizers. See this Music Thing post from a while back for details.
