ReplyDeleteWhen they came out I remember hearing that they were using the minimoog, the first time I heard of such a thing. They single handedly got me into analog synths. 10 years later I'm listening to Return of the Rentals in my car and realize hard sync, not filter sweeps, are responsible for nearly all those synth sounds. My concept of what a minimoog sounded like was based on that album. It was the 25-year-old-former-weezer-nut equivalent of finding out Santa doesn't exist. Although not as upsetting as finding out Brian Bell didn't play on the first weezer album.
