• Synton Syrinx (SE) (Serial # 5)
• Special Synton CV/Gate Cable
This is the special edition without the keyboard that Synton released in 1994-1995. This mid-nineties reissue is a very rare rack-mount version with MIDI and external audio in. These units were mounted inside rack cases to assure maximum protection and to make transportation easier. Only 6 of this units have ever been produced.
wow i had no idea they were so pricey!
ReplyDeleteHave people gone mad? Does anyone really pay these prices?... I seriously doubt there's any components in there that aren't commerically available (unless it's got SSM chips). For the idiotic price of $5800 you could probably have one custom built from scratch and have plenty left over.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you could buy a HUGE synthesizers.com or Doefer modular for $5800, and I'm sure you could figure out a way to mimic the Syrinx's filter for that kinda coin!

Holy crap, I used to own that one. Serial number 5. It was part of a limited run in the early or mid 1990's. I believe I bought it new for 2 grand and change. Kept it for about 7 years & sold it for not much more than I paid for it. Not having a keyboard is a strike against it. You tend to be all over those little metal bar thingies whenever you play it, so you have to put it as close to your keyboard controller as you can. I guess the ones with keyboards didn't come with cv ins. It was the 1990's. Everyone wanted to take the keyboards off of everything because, umm, Midi was so great?
