2007 Disco Keytar

via Dave

"It's a monophonic, monotambric (same note every time) sound module, employing not a VCO but an ACB (air-controlled blister). I don't see any inputs or outputs on it, but I'm sure we'll figure out a way to sample it eventually. It's not technically a synthesizer, since it creats not artificial, but only natural sounds. But I strongly believe that when in the right hands (or paws), it shall prove to be a surprisingly expressive instrument."

  3. DOG. OFF. SYNTH.

Love dogs, have two and they're just like kids to me and children aren't allowed NEAR my toy keytars - for obvious reasons. Pets fall into the same category - would you lay a heavy fur coat over your synth? No. A baby? No. Why a cat then?

The risk of clogging hair & dander, accidental scratches, broken/forced knobs/buttons/pots and damage to key mechanisms (all from letting them walk/lay on the toy keytar) should be enough of a reason not to encourage this behavior.

But hey - it's your toy machine - you paid for it. Go on and treat it like your pet bed if you like - just be prepared for problems at some point.

  5. Um...I'm not sure if it is me or Adam that has misunderstood something, but isnät th picture of a typical squeaky dog-chewing toy? Kinda sorta no problems with broken pots on that...

  7. Dave's dog is a hipster!! I mean, he has a keytar, and look at that neckerchief. *shakes head*

  8. Yeah, the keytar was my addition to the wardrobe, the bandana not so much. :o)

Adam's comment about not letting the dog near the synth was pretty funny. He'd have to be an 800-pound gorilla-pug to be in proportion with an actual functioning synth. It's a $1.50 dog toy, which incidentally, I found at Old Navy if anyone else wants one for their dogs (or gorillas).

So which model does this most look like to people? My vote is the Yammy SHS-10...

  9. I was referencing another post. If you don't know the post I'm referring to, then don't worry about it. I think it's a cute picture, even if it was a real keytar.

  10. Dave it is DEFINITELY the Yamaha SHS-10, because when you say "keytar" every one thinks of the bright red FM monster.

Except it's more of an FM girl scout.

  11. Man I don't want to tell you how to treat your stuff but that dog will, eventually, totally ruin that chew toy. Forget ebaying it later is all I'm saying.

  12. i knew i liked Dave for some reason, obviously not for his taste in music, programming ability, three finger "the claw" playing style, inability to draw, or signature wrist band...

    it because he's dog people

you don't have a f*ing cat do you?

i'll have to change my opinion

  13. >It's a monophonic, monotambric (same >note every time) sound module

I think you want to say that it's monophonic, monotimbral, and monotonic (?)!?

  14. Not even remotely funny... you will still have to dislike me I'm afraid. The dog is my girlfriend's.

*wanders away staring at my claw in complete disappointment*
