1. Wow, $1200? I remember when he won this off of ebay less than a year ago for just over $700. I wonder if he bought it just to resell at a later point? I love how in his one sale ad he says that it is worth way over $1200 on ebay when he paid $500 less on ebay.

2. I remember seeing it on ebay too for $700 buy-it-now. I didn't think it was worth it then, and I cerntainly don't now.

3. I don't want to come off as a troll, I assure you that I am not, but I also remember this auction.

Kind of funny that he would buy this, use it for several months and then try to resell it for $500 more than he paid. Especially to a bunch of synthheads that all remember what he originally paid. Oh well, I guess its not really my place to say. Good luck with the sale.

4. Shaggie is very much into buying and selling for a profit. He buys up a lot of the gear in San Diego (for example the PolyMoog he picked up for $125 and claims bids of $700 or so). Spamming his own craigslist post on Matrixsynth is pretty tacky.

He (apparently) is quite good at talking up gear to inflate the value before selling. I get sick of all his keywords on the bottom of his spam posts too.

6. Eww, nasty color scheme, designed for GI Joe? I'd rather pick up a normal xbase and add the xrom to it, about a quarter of the price, no horrid color scheme and able to load your own samples and more of them. The Dr Walker endorsment and samples mean squat to me because A) Who is Dr Walker anyway? B) I'd rather use my own sounds than those of some "superstar" producer. Bzzzt..

7. I love how these guys try to hide the fact that they are synth dealers. I mean, if you were just up front about it to begin with, then people would be so annoyed when they found out. Shaggies constant selling of gear for twice what he paid makes him a synth dealer in my opinion.

8. It's America, he can charge what he wants! If I bought something like that I'd expect it to appreciate in value. It's a collectors piece, is it not? He can charge whatever he sees as a reasonable price. Someone who's obsessed with analog gear might think that's a deal. A Prophet 08 LE signed by Dave Smith might pair nice with this piece.

9. Yeah I agree that shaggie is a dealer. He also tries to hype up whatever piece he is about to sell on all of the forums to try to drive the price up. But I also agree that it is America, home of the opportunists, and he is free to do what he wants. I'm sure hes not losing any sleep over any of these comments. Hes probably busy buying up all the cheap synths in Cali to resell for a ton. He must be doing something right, I mean this kid has more high end gear than a lot of guys my age.

10. hi guys... thought I'd address some stuff really quick for your benefit...

I'm not a dealer..not even close. My studio is a 10x8 room with 8 pieces of gear that I use. I'm a subtractive synth/electronica fan, however, so I am on the constant search for 'my' ultimate setup. To get there has been a long journey, and I'm finally close.

I bought the Walker with BIN immediately, didn't even have to think. This is an auction for JMX fans primarily and no better way to reach them than here and other forms, lists.

I bought the PolyMoog for $140 locally on Craig's. It's in wonderful condition, short of no sound coming out. :) One look at schematics and I can see I'm no match for the job. I have an offer of $700, but I have to deliver it to someone in San Bernardino. Anyone that knows their Polys and the cult following love/hate thing they have, will know it's worth almost any price, for the parts alone. I also had several offers for $200 and one for $450. I only sell a piece of gear when I really want something else...like the XS coming out shortly. I am an artist, not a dealer.

Guys, this is hard work, and takes a lot of follow up, and taking care of the gear... however it is the ONLY means I have as an artist to acquire the sound i'm going for. I have a day job unrelated to music..it is purely my hobby/dream.

Yes, this is America, but it's a lot bigger than that. I know people all over the world..all of them wonderful, with whom I buy and sell all the time. I have an outstanding reputation as a musician and friend, and someone that takes care of his gear and goes the extra mile in any sale to make sure everyone's happy.

For this Dr. Walker, I have a personal attachment to it. It's featured in every one of my tracks, and those of my producer/label. It's a part of my sound. It's also serial #1 of a limited edition of the single best 909 clones ever produced. It's worth $1200 on features alone to me, and build/craftsmanship. I might not sell it easily, but that is the whole point. Something is worth what it is worth to part with (from seller's POV). I've played a few shows with the Dr. Walker, and I can feel the connection to experiences like this one:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DkB7VfRSuPqQ&ei=FID0RrzsHYzYgQOzzL28BA&usg=AFQjCNHrnXzPjCLQjaNRVPdARI41IQAs8w&sig2=GwCwtaBHvxO_BuOfZpCHTg

This piece is not a commodity, it's a synth with history, intrigue and innate value beyond that of a 909 or another 09se. At least to me, and that's what counts.

I'm guessing a few of the early posters know what I'm talking about and just don't have the means to make an offer, and to them I say: work hard, make music, treat your gear right, and maintain your integrity... Anger is a sign of hurt, but no need to throw that back at a poster you don't even know. That's what your music is there for to express, God willing.

11. prolly a wish sale. i've done it. you see a piece of gear you want and sell something you don't care about for the same price. it works sometimes.

12. Convoy......
yes, pretty close. In my case I own both a TokTok and a Dr. Walker. However I really needed the part mute function of the 999 for live shows... I am a huge Jomox fan...I own a sunsyn, jazbase03, Dr. Walker, TokTok, and now I own a 999. In my small studio, i can't afford to keep so much percussion synths, so I have to let one go. I am selling the TokTok (SN#5) and Jazbase03, too. Whichever sells first of the three, I will likely not sell the other two.
The Matrix board seems to attract so many 'anonymous' kiddies. I think it must be the pretty green colors?
It would be great if Dr. Walker would see this and chime in from his little paradise in Greece. I'm sure he would have some 'interesting' words to say.

Have a fun Saturday everybody! I do 'wish' I can see one of these fine machines, so let me know if you are interested!

13. I own this exact #1 Dr Walker now. Bought it on Ebay for $850. Funny how it gets around. I would let it go for $1200 but no less only because I love it.
