  2. Frustrating song. Alicia Keys has the talent to be much less bland than most mainstream pop, but here she is with a relatively bland pop song. She has many more musical strengths than her peers, but in this tune, the only strength she's showing off is her voice.

    Bland chord progression.
    Bland piano playing.
    Bland melody.

And will someone tell her producer/drum programmer that more cymbal crashes does not equal better/more dramatic song?

    Nice synth, though.

...sorry to be such a Negative Nancy. I just don't like to see talent squandered so that it fits in to the "mainstream sound."

  3. evan, I hear you. I'd like to see her get comfortable (money wise) and then break out in a less mainstream musical space.

btw, matrix - why no synth babe tag?! :)

  5. on the original post i made the move and dick in a box comments. i think the only successful thing about this video was the free watch shot. artists like this get major distribution and have great things at thier diposal. this vid is a million dollar sleeping pill.

btw,it doesn't take money to make a catchy song. that's the lamest excuse ever. kurt cobain wrote nevermind while he was living in a girls house that he didn't want to be involved with.

kurt was a sloppy guitarist with pretty basic talent and his lyrics left a lot to be desired. that only leaves melody.

alicia wants to be taken seriously so she adds a tinge of drudgery to her songs. blah.

  6. I've never heard a worse sound from a Jupiter 8.

Her voice is good we know, and she likes gear, maybe she'll get her synth chops up.

That Klingon comment was the best, I almost threw up my dinner I laughed so hard.

I think Kurt Cobain's lyrics are quite moving, well some of them at least.
