It's funny how they are referring to it as the "monopoly" (like the game); I've only ever heard it referred to as the "Mono / Poly" as it's labeled on the front.
ReplyDeleteI've always found it funny when companies come up with a particular "clever" name for something but then the consumers at large refer to it as something different. :D
It actually is pronounced "monopoly" like the game! :) I know, I still have a hard time saying "monopoly" vs "mono poly" myself. It is true though... Like Cwejman is Shweeman, instead of Kwejman and Buchla is Book la instead of Boo - kla, and of course Mogue instead of Moog.
ReplyDeleteOr is Cwejmen pronounced Shwayman, I forget if it's shwee or shway. I also thought Doepfer was Dop-fer not Dope-fer for the longest time.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine pronounces Roland as "Rah-land." I have never corrected him.
