To reduce spam, comments for posts older than one week are not displayed until approved, usually same day. Do not insult people. For items for sale, do not ask if it is still available. Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.

Hey! I know these people. I was even at the show the top pic was take at.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I haven't seen a reference to Zia since 96-97.
ReplyDeleteAs of lately I've been refraining from commenting in the "synth babes" posts as I feel vagina =/= credibility.
Anyway .. I find Zia irratating. Not in a bad way, but because when they have it on a song, they have it. They tend to rely on the same rythmic patterns over and over unfortunately. When they don't, they're all over the place and they sound sort of sloppy.
Elaine has one of those voices that if they tried hard enough to vary their sound and keep it consistent I think they could do very very well.
Uh.. thanks, I think. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, maybe you might like our recorded stuff better than the live shows. Live shows can be sloppy due to drunkenness, and also, you may be hearing the microtonality (or macrotonality) as "sloppy" in a sense that it doesn't lock into the 12 tones you're used to. Just a thought.
Lots of ZIA music is here: ZiaSpace.com (MUSIC link)

Oh, another great excuse for being "sloppy" is that our live shows are ALL LIVE. We do not have any synths on backing tracks. We actually (attempt to) play it. :)
