  1. Meh...seems like a novelty more than anything else. Now if it could output CV/Gate, that would be something interesting. Not that Korg really cares about synthesists though....

  2. I like the spirit behind the device, but this really isn't for me. Not being able to tweak the sounds (which aren't really to my taste from what I heard) kinda kills it for me.

  4. I suspect that people will find ways of doing some really interesting things with this. I mean on the face of it scratching records is not the most promising of sound making options and yet people have been able to extend and develop it in all sorts of ways. So I think the kaossilator could be bigger than people expect and teh pricing sounds raelly good. No doubt someone will work out how to hack the sounds as well........

  5. its a fun toy, but not for me

  6. I see it as an instrument for non-musicians, so it doesn't really make much sense, except maybe as a toy.

  7. Why the hell didn't they include MIDI or USB on this one?!??!

  9. Well it looks like it makes creating certain types of music very easy. There is another video on youtube (in french) that shows just how simple it is to do proggy type lead lines on it and all that acid kind of crap. BUT...I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it as just a toy or for non musicians ( are we not all non musos nowadays anyway?) - indeed on the contrary its going to be deft finger work that will lift the possibilities from the mundane and predictable...

  10. It's the poor man's continuum fingerboard!

Seriously though, if I can be serious, this thing looks like a great fun toy.

    Yay Korg! I love you!

  11. Without some sort of visual reference as to where the first scale degree is, what the hell is the difference between any of the classical modes?

In other words, if you don't know what scale degree you're playing, what difference does it make if you're playing Ionian vs. dorian or lydian or whatever on a blank pad?

Now, moving from one of a diatonic mode to pentatonic or whatever, that obviously makes sense, but, jeeze - gilding the lilly here. Subtract 6 from the '31 selectable scales.'
