  1. The flute's not bad, especially when those high chiffs kick in, but that big band patch is pure Parappa '99 though. Also, easy on the pitch bend, please. Pretty much a guaranteed way to kill these patches.

  2. Wasn't expecting "Jump" in the middle of this demo...

  3. Is anyone else totally annoyed by digital 'brass' and 'woodwind' sounds pretty much universally?

I agree with walkathon that the flute isn't bad... but yeah that 'big band' sound is atrocious, and those types of sax/clarinet/oboe, etc. make me want to punch somebody.

Didn't we learn back in the 80's that 'emulating' acoustic instruments is the antithesis of what synths are for?

  4. They sound better when not played with a keyboard. A fingerboard of breath controller is of course better. So much is in the expression.

  5. Oh, and we haven't really begun learning the immense and powerful lessons of the 80's. For instance, we've all stopped wearing shoulder pads. How will we protect our shoulders now???

    Somewhere, doves are crying.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. It is classified as a brass patch in the Motif preset banks.
