Note the OB-Xa and Ob-8 style blue stripes on black. Anyone out there know what Curtis chips these used and if/how they compare to the Prophet '08?

Given the late date, I would think it probably used one of the Curtis synth-on-a-chip designs like the 3396.
ReplyDeleteNot sure of the accuracy of the third post in this thread (link below) from Gearslutz, but the person is saying that the Prophet08 uses the same chips as the Marion ProSynth (which is the same thing as the MSR-2 without the EQ and other minor omissions). I do recall reading somewhere once that Dave Smith purchased Oberheim's leftover Marion oscillator chips to use in the Evolver. If I had the time right now to search the tubes of the interwebs I'd look further but, I don't.
