Update: found it in the Messe 2003 set. It's Spectron's Sequencer. You can see it has VCOs as well, so I'm guessing it is a synth as well as sequencer. If you know more about this one, feel free to comment.

EVERYTHING SYNTH

i'm pretty sure it's what eventually became the radikal technologies spectralis. i've seen pictures with jorge next to this somewhere before.

ReplyDeleteI sort of wish that this is what the Spectralis ended up being like...I really dont want any of the other features on that thing besides the hybrid synth and step sequencer.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with Array. I own one, but I am much more interested in pulsating D/A hybrid sequences than sample-based beats. I really wish they would change directions and deepen the already-very-deep hybrid synth section. Maybe a lot of logic functions, more signal paths, weird control possibilities (like you can do with buchla). But I love the sound, and at the moment I have a 4-step sequence pulsing away.
ReplyDeleteThose are SAC controllers by Radikal too which look mighty fine all of them there like that together. I'd not be surprised if that was Jörg's setup I think for demoing at conventions before the speki did come about as its prototype. I remember seeing something like it somewhere before somewheres. I do love the hybrid synth part too and been getting into the filter bank more lately. However everything else is dang sweet too, I don't think I'd want the prototype except maybe for historical purposes, but yeah maybe one day they could knock it all down to just synth module, would probably do well for a lot of folks alone. It is my favorite part to mess with on it.
