Spectron's Sequencer

Update: found it in the Messe 2003 set. It's Spectron's Sequencer. You can see it has VCOs as well, so I'm guessing it is a synth as well as sequencer. If you know more about this one, feel free to comment.

Dimension Pro and Rapture Demonstration
YouTube via CakewalkSoftware. Note this video is from 2006. I'm actually installing Dimension Pro at the moment and decided to see if there were any videos up to watch during the install.
"Musikmesse presentation on Project5, Dimension Pro, and Rapture. Due to the nature of filming on a tradeshow floor, the audio quality of this video is less than perfect."

AFG (Audio Frequency Generator - VCO)

"Livewire is ready to release the AFG (Audio Frequency Generator - VCO). This is looking to be the hottest VCO on the market.
The the Chaos Computer first showed up at Musikmesse 2006, looks like the (next!) ultimate random voltage generating machine. Mike is saying that it _will_ be out before the end of the year.
Then there was an inference that there may be other goodies released before those.
Pics from his showing at NAMM are here:

Top 20 Wierdest Instruments On Sonic State

"We always try to push the boundaries a bit, but we were really surprised by the popularity of the show, adds series cameraman and Sonicstate co-founder Andy McCreeth. "It was interesting to see how passionate some of the chatroom discussions about chart positions were too We'll be interviewing more musicians, producers, and hopefully some of the inventors behind some truly oddball instruments - I'm really looking forward to it."
As usual the shows will be presented by 'Professor Marc Norris' who's eccentric comments and links became a feature of the recent Top 20 Synths series. But how did he get involved with Sonic State? "Those fine fellows at Sonic found me on YouTube drifting around in Cyberspace," said the Professor (AKA actor and comedian Marc Norris), "I've always had a great passion for electronic music and I was very excited about being asked to present the show."
The Top 20 Greatest Synths links were recorded at the Sonic offices in a single day as Marc was due back on stage for an evening performance. "It was all a bit of a rush, but I had great fun working with Simon and Andy. We had a script but we sometimes just wandered off to see where it would take us."
And what can we expect from the professor in the new series? "I think we'll be seeing more facets of the professor's twisted personality. He's a great character to play with, but leaving him behind at the studio is becoming more and more of a struggle for me!"
The weird instruments to be included will be decided by a combination of voting and the choices of the people interviewed. There will also be suggestions from the Sonic staff and a few unexpected surprises thrown in for entertainment value!
So vote now for your top 3 weirdest instruments of all time, and remember, it's your vote that counts!

New May releases from Plan b
Via Peter Grenader of Plan b:
"There are a few suprises coming for the month of May which include the release of THREE NEW PRODUCTS above and beyond the Model 26, and a major re-design of another module that's been released for some time. Included in these will be the Model 15A, the Model 28 and 28A
Model 28?
That's not a typo! The M28 has been kept a secret, even at Namm and Musikmesse... but not for much longer.
Keep an eye on the EAR site where they'll all be announced and released over the next four or so weeks.

John Bowen Podcast on SonicState
"Messe proved a feeding frenzy for synth lovers – at least those who’ve followed the career of John Bowen – and you’d need to have been around some to be there from the start!
Starting in the 1970’s as a fresh faced Moog clinician, John presented himself at the door of another legendary synth designer Dave Smith – you know Prophet 5, MIDI, that sort of thing – on a mission to blag some free gear to feed his own musical needs – and use in his work as the Moog clinician. From there a fruitful relationship ensued, with the outcome being many classic Sequential Circuits Inc synths, sequencers and drum machines, and the rest as they say, is history.
In a brief lull between Musik MESSE and pre flying back to the US to continue development of the new hardware synth the Solaris, we talked to John about the past, the present and the future."

Musicmesse Via Progsounds
Arturia Origin. This is the best demo I've seen of the interface. It's actually pretty slick. One thing I hate working with PC modulars is the clicking and dragging to edit. A giant analog push button knob just seems way more efficient. I also like how the focus goes to the module you are editing. The one thing I hope it comes with are the complete versions of the Arturia range of softsynths preconfigured and ready to go. I'd hate to have to recreate them on my own.
