  1. This guy should avoid laughing.

But seriously, would someone be better off picking up an old model D MiniMoog or wait and go for this? There's barely a price differential.

  2. It's nice to at least see some new stuff from Moog, but come on guys - this is hardly ground breaking stuff? Is it nothing more than taking bits away from an existing design rather than really doing anything whatsoever new. For gods sake just put the effort in and do the flaming 8-voice Moog poly synth and put us all out of our misery!!

  3. in theory you are buying reliability.

  4. It sounds great no matter how crazy tweaked by this erm...guy. Definetly not for mass markets....

  5. Unless the MIDI and preset-saving circuitry in the previous Voyagers interfere with the live control voltage paths, I don't really see the point of the OS.

I'd rather just buy a Voyager RME, keep the preset storage, and control it with the MIDI or CV source of my choice.

An 8-voice would be nice, but I hate to think of the cost of any Voyager multiplied by 8!

  6. I don't really get it other than to think Moog has caught on about the Analog and Modular craze that's gaining popularity not seen in 30 years, and also maybe hearing all the negative Voyager vs. Mini buzz and trying to appease all the analog purists. My verdict: I know Minis....I own a Mini...this still ain't a Mini.

  7. the biggest net minus for the minimoog OS is that i guess the special PGM functions are gone. Otherwise I wouldn't really mind not having the digital functions. I can't afford it anyway. If Moog made a tabletop or rack unit that sold for about $800 i'd be in fer sure.

  8. And it still doesn't have a sustain pedal

  9. A sustain pedal has binary state and is therefore - aha! - digital. The analog purists couldn't have that, you know >:>

  10. The keys and the ON/OFF switch are also digital. The envelope gate/trigger is digital. And you play it with, er, your digits.

    Analog purism?

    Acck! Phhht!
