Inside a Waldorf Q

  1. Looks similar to the inside of an Alesis ION. I think I remember reading somewhere that the ION's physical design was done by the same company that did the Waldorf stuff.

  2. It's also much like how a K1000 looks inside. I don't know that it's design so much these days as it is everything is on a chip. It doesn't take much design to fit two or three circuit boards inside a giant case like that. :)

  3. That is pretty much what any DSP based synth will generally look like.
    Small mainboard with PSU as far away as possible - large boards containing only pots, encoders and possibly LCD and LEDs of course. The PCB looks and functions nothing like the Alesis ION.

    the outside look was designed by Axel Hartmann (owner of the design shop DesignBox and musician). He also designed the front panel of the Moog Voyager, some Creamware hardware units, Alesis Andromeda A6 and many others.
    But he was not designing the main board and the place where to put the PSU and other things. This was done by Frank Schneider, the Production Manager of Waldorf.
