"This is a stunning example of a wonderful physical modeling synthesizer that originally came out in 1997. Unlike some others you might find for sale, this particular unit contains the additional 6 voice polyphony expansion board (an expensive option). The Korg Z1 has a great, fat sound. It's very expressive, with a lot of control capabilities (including a very nice arpeggiator). Construction is VERY solid (i.e. this is not a light, flimsy piece of equipment like some products on the market)."
WOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO! I love the Korg Z1 - it's a fascinating amalgamation of synthesis techniques in a fairly flexible and expressive keyboard design (the X/Y pad is very tactile and has just enough dedicated knobs without being "overknobbed"). All this in a multi-timbrel instrument with - TWO OUTPUTS????? Arghhhh...still one of the greats IMVHOAIMOMWIDBS.
ReplyDeleteI love my Z1. Especially the way you can vary "lip pressure" on the trumpet patch by using the X/Y pad.
ReplyDeleteAlso the electric pianos, lead electric guitar, clavinets, harpisichord. Things that vary timbre with velocity, not just volume.
Oh and the actual keyboard mechanism is one of my favourites - a Fatar I think.
