Happy new year! Today is the first day of the 2008 Winter NAMM Show and, for the first time ever, Dave Smith Instruments is introducing two new products. We'll be showing a prototype of the LinnDrum II Analog (previously announced as BoomChik). It doesn't do much yet, but it's finally more than just a nice Roger Linn rendering. As you might imagine, this is a very software-intensive project, so having hardware is just one step towards completion. But it is a step. And those pads with the blue backlighting are mesmerizing! Check out the LinnDrum II Analog product page for more information."

i could see kraftwerk using this if they werent using laptops....shame i dont write music with drum machones anymore :-) otherwise I'd buy it in a snap
ReplyDeleteVery sexy. More like BOW-chik (a-bow bow).
ReplyDeleteOr has this joke already been told 100 times since 2006. Couldn't tell ya.
ugly! get a designer! it seems like a great product but looks thrown together by those who know music, and NOT design. just cheapens it.
ReplyDeleteThe blue LED thing has run its course. Other than that, the machine looks cool to me.
ReplyDeleteits made to look in the vein of the original Linn Drum...
ReplyDeletethe one without the synth (the roger linn version) is the one i'm copping!
i think the design looks quite decent. i have the first mono evolver - that is ugly. this at least seems to lack superfluous graphics, and just focuses on basic type and nothing else. and, as one of the names there happens to be linn, i would *hope* the software will actually be the brilliance part of this design - mpc functionality is legendary, no? if this has that, i am in. and, if it has some analog guts, then sure i want them knobs!
