Actually, I'm reasonably sure that the Synthettes were a 70's female techo-pop trio from Belgium. Their LPs are all but unobtainable now but they'll be remembered for their one almost-hit, 'Sequential lovers'.
It's a protest from mamadjaniank? ;)

ReplyDeleteI got tired of people including myself in the end questioning the meaning of the label. It could be interpreted as a cute term a cool term or an offensive term.
Synthettes is neutral and you are free to "appreciate" the post however you like.
Also, I think a Synthette is a cool name. If I put a picture of my four year old daughter up with the label I could say, "look you are a synthette!" It's a bit less questionable than saying, "Look you are Synth Babe!" I know it's fine and I'm probably being too sensitive with it, but I just don't like the question even being asked. It distracts from the post and the image. If the label doesn't really matter then there should be no problem in going with Synthettes. You know what it means and you are free to appreciate the post however you like.
