Original Nord Modular USB Mod

via manuel:

"chresan and I modded his Nord Modular yesterday to install USB-> Midi inside the casing. Here are some pictures

The board I used can also be used to mod a micromodular, or in fact any kind of synth or midi controller, as it is very small. (bad quality pictures, sorry).

The board has 2x2 MIDI, more information here

You can contact me at manuel -at- bl0rg.net"

  1. The original Nord Modular Editor has much trouble with new OS's. Even some Midi Inrerfaces are better than others. Evidence this midi mod is a good one for the editor?

  3. Yes, the midi board works well for the editor. Also, christian who owns the nord modular is the main developer of the nomad open source editor which is taking shape VERY VERY nicely.

  4. WOWW!!
I want that mod on my G2... How do I get it???
    :D

For the Nomad... i'm wondering, would it means that we don't need any hardware anymore to produce patches?
If so... anyplans to make it for mac?

    cheers!

  5. the G2 already has USB, no? So no need for this mod :)

Nomad is an editor for the Nord, not a synthesizer by itself. It's starting to work nicely on macosx now, while the clavia's editor is very buggy and shaky. Take a look at http://nmedit.sourceforge.net/

  6. hehehe I know it has USB, I've own it since september 2004!
What I meant for the G2 is that they should have though of passing the midi through USB, to lover the number of ports in the back and save a usb port on the laptop ;)

thanks for the link, i'll give it a try late ron tonight!
    :D

    cheerzzz!!

  7. Hey, if you're using a mac, make sure to install mmj before trying nomad:

It won't work for the G2, but when I get my hands on the one we'll try to add support for it :)
