  1. amazing how they made the juipter sound like the software ?

  2. i have it.

PROS: it sounds close! especially when using the factory presets. I used to own an MKS80, and JP6, and my friend had an 8. it definitely sound like its in that vein of synths.

CONS: pig. and when i say pig, i mean like 60-70% CPU for 8 voices. I'm using a dual core 2.4 with 2gb ram, so my computer isnt a slouch, either. it's so bad sometimes, i have to use soundfonts created by chainer just to get the sound i want.

  3. i think the poster of the video was trying to be ironic, metrosonus.

I use it every day - theres a beta of the update out at the moment, which is much stabler and has improved performance.

the quality of sound still comes at a CPU cost though...but I reckon its a worthwhile tradeoff.

  5. All that video tells me is that Arturia's test machine did not have any techno in it.

  6. i a/b-ed it against my jupiter-6 and it was damn close, as in i couldnt tell the difference. it even had the envelope click that the jupiter had. of course it depends on what output im using (out of the soundcard) for the sound, but.... (and btw i hate most arturia stuff)
i shouldnt say this, so i will!
the biggest pro: the demo has no restrictions and doesnt require a usb dongle for it. the only limitation is that you cant save sounds, and it only comes with a few presets. which i love.

  7. Hmm, seeing as to how I'll probably never own a real Jupiter-8, I may have to give that a go.

  8. You guys realize that the Arturia software is supposed to emulate a Jupiter-8? A Jupiter-8 is very different from the Jupiter-6 and MKS-80(rev4/5).

  9. I realize I'm basing this on crappy Youtube audio, but I get very similar sounds on my Alesis Micron.

I get it is technically just another VA...

  11. i just dlded it as I use to own a JP8 for 17 years...I managed to get it sounding like a Korg Wavestation more than a JP8, admittedly I am at work on quiet laptop speakers, will give it a proper try tonight.

  13. OK, having a JP-8, and having played the Arturia, there are a few similarities. The filter is close, if you don't sweep it fast (avoiding the quantizing). The arp and what these guys were doing in this vid is a bit off - interesting in itself in the VA, but there are things that you can do with sweeping the analog envelope controls to have the filter envelope "chase itself" that are not accurately emulated. Still the Arturia is a really cool aoftaynth. I think if they marketed it as that rather than as a mock JP-8, people all over would be bonkers for it. If you want a taste of what I mean by looping the arp and tricking out the envelopes while it's running, check out this old demo I made when I first got my JP-8. Enjoy.

  16. if you want to conserve CPU resources turn the effects off and limit the polyphony.
