FREE ALBUM DOWNLOAD::: WENCHUAN and The Sound of Earthquakes

via SoNiCbRaT. See the forum for details. BTW, also see Califaudio's The Sound of Earthquaks.
"Geeks, friends and foes. Let's do our part in lending a hand to help with the recent Sichuan Wenchuan Earthquake. This is my little effort to encourage people to donate. I've even set up a fundraiser page so do drop by. The music in this album uses KORG M3-88, though the mix could be improved (by miles) but I wanted to do it in a day so we'll have to live with the little imperfections.
The recent Sichuan Earthquake in China had shocked the world. With more than 28,000 dead and more than 190,000 injured and many homeless; the victims there need our help."

  2. Did you check out the posts? The fund raiser links are there. I know SoNiCbRaT. He's a stand-up guy and not exploiting. The album is free and it's more about raising awareness. I'm sure you can figure it out. This sort of thing should not be limited to the famous. I personally think highly of him for doing this. He's a bit closer to the affected region than us BTW.

  4. "I really don't think its a time for listening to or promoting music, its a time getting your hands dirty"

So when do you leave for China then? Or is it a time for other people to get their hands dirty, but for Mr Jones to offer moral guidance?

  5. When I saw what Sonicbrat was doing, I thought it was really cool of him. I may not have donated to the cause if I hadn't checked out his site. The British Red Cross is a reputable charity, isn't it? It's easy to be cynical, but I believe Sonicbrat had nothing but good intentions here.

I listened to his songs while surfing websites on the tragedy. It's a beautiful soundtrack to reflect on the great loss of life last week in China and Burma.

  6. Thank you guys. I think Jones or anyone here all have good intentions. Just that we all showed it in different ways. I would love to go volunteer, go China or Myanmar to help with the situation there directly. But due to existing commitments, I can't. Which is my regret. And I am sure all of y'all have valid and credible reasons for not acting directly too. So I thought the least I could do was to cut a tribute album and share it to encourage people to donate. I didn't want to just donate alone (I did already), or just go red cross to volunteer... coz it's almost too convenient so I was cracking my brain to see what I could do and this was it.

Share something with you guys. I actually wanted to tie up something with the Singapore Red Cross Society (since I am a Singaporean) so that the fundraiser site can donate directly to Singapore brunch. But over here, there's no available self set-up fund raiser page. And SRCS doesn't take in paypal or credit card donations (just cheque or cash or enet transfer = local). So I was suggesting to them about things, about signing up with justgiving.com like the British RC already did... I am nobody, I know... not commercial at least. I know... and they told me "Oh, justgiving is donating in pounds and it has no local mass appeal. There are no selling points."

    ...

I was like =_= now I know why Singapore has one of the least donations in South East Asia, being one of the richest around Asia, that's a shame. Donation is not about exchange rates, mass appeal or advertising. Right? In anycase, just a short episode of dealing with red tapes even in charitable organizations. My last words to them was "Nothing to lose, right?"

I didn't mean to promote my music, because these were cut in a day and really, not great in anyway to promote artistically anyhow. But to encourage complacent Singaporeans to at least donate (with perks in return)... that was the reason. I don't mind being trashed along the way, I see that coming... but PLEASE DONATE!

PS: Thanks Matrix for putting this up and for speaking up for me. I appreciate that. The donations are crawling but I am sure that little bit counts for the people in China and Myanmar.
