The Presets Interview with Kim Moyes

read the full interview on Amateur Chemist.

"AC: I have seen you five times in concert and love the fact that you have two Korg MS-20's on stage. What drove this decision to use vintage gear while on tour?

KM: It's been a nerdy passion of ours for quite sometime now and apart from the great sound these synths make they have such a distinctive look about them. We are very familiar with these synths and can get around them quickly so it's just the easiest option for us to use them live."

  1. Can I just say,
The average fan of The Presets would have no idea what a Korg MS-20 is or its significance in music history. And that's OK; you don't need that knowledge to enjoy good music.

Unfortunately though, The Presets are a goddamn awful, 'trendy' band who make terrible, terrible dance music which will quickly fall out of fashion.

It is a huge shame since both members of The Presets are classicaly trained musicians, and were previously members of PROP - a gorgeous, soulful, organic instrumental pop band from Sydney, which used vintage synths for good instead of evil.

    /end rant.
