I know Keiko, she's an amazing artist and a lovely person. True story:
ReplyDeletein te 90's she recoded a lot of her records at Milagro Sound, a large studio in Glendale, CA which was owned by a very good friend of mine, the same guy who now hosts the EAR site onhis server - Mario Salinas. I used to hang there a lot. One night during a Keiko session, we all sat down in the front room to eat diner (Pollo Loco if I remember correctly). Mario, me, Mario's wife Sheri, the seconds, the main engineer Bob Biles, and Keiko on her husband allhuddles around this small table reachng all over the place for a bit of this, a second helping of that, etc. It was a nice meal but you gotta know we made a huge mess of a the table. When we were done, Keiko insisted on cleaning it up and returning it to it's original state. She wouldn't let anyone help her. That impressed the hell out of me, considering the plethora of lesser artists who tend to treat everyone within the domain of a recording studio, or anyone within their vicinity for that matter like their personal slaves.
