"First thing to notice about the MK is the nice retro design… Ok, maybe second thing… the first being the awful mini keys. Why O why? Let’s deal with that right away and move on : the biggest issue with the MK might be the keyboard, and no, making it black don’t change anything."
I like that intro. :)
the microkorg is the best toy synth ever, that's how i see it. it's a portable, battery-operated & lightweight MS2000 in a shell not much bigger than a Casio Sk1. what's not to love? seriously?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the anti mini-key sentiment at all. A miniature stature is the whole point.
ReplyDeleteFull sized keys with that synth engine is what the MS2000 is for and they go for sale on ebay constantly.
That's why I said that in the end, the portable aspect of the Microkorg was a great asset
ReplyDeleteBut at the same time, mini-keys are really impractical to play and I wonder if they couldn't have pushed the knobs towards the upper edge and put a 2-octave normal keyboard instead (but then of course, a 2 octaves keyboard isn't really practical either) (I guess my point is, you can't have everything;)
the mini keys rule. i wish my cs 80 had them
ReplyDeleteThe R3 had full size keys and a pretty small footprint. I wonder how the MicroKORG would have been at that size. The parameter text on the MicroKORG is pretty small as well. You have to lean over and squint at times to read it. But... The MicroKORG is definitely nice at that size. It is the most portable full blown synth with keys out there.
