Why I post what I post...

You never know what people will find useful or interesting. You may not be interested in the Philips PCM 100, but this person was.

"I recently found one of those philips pcm 100 composers but couldn't find a manual anywhere untill I crossed your blog via google. I was suprised to find out the foreign language is dutch, and since I'm from the Netherlands I speak and read it pretty well. So I wanted to thank you for posting it and letting you know what the actual language of the manual was. Not so suprisingly maybe since Philips is a dutch company.

Keep up the good work and thanks again!"

I love emails like this. It's also an interesting note about the manual. :)

  1. You do post quit a bit Matrix.

I've found your Blog almost overwhelming when I've missed just a day or two.

Even with Matrixsynth-B out of the way it seems like a head twist.

You are certainly one of the first blogs I check as a synthgeek but perhaps you could find an posting compromise.

    Cheers,

  2. Remember, it takes more time to post than to read. My recommendation is to skip what doesn't interest you. If it all interest you then it's a good thing I put it up. :)

  3. I think your doing great, If it takes somebody 20-30 mins to check your blog because they've missed 2 days!? that's impressive... even an AH digest only takes about 5 mins tops.

  4. At first I was going to say, I agree with the person 2 posts above me. But then I realized it's you Matrixsynth. Why don't YOU just post what interests you and not what MIGHT be interesting just for some.

That way we'd get a more streamlined view of your personality, which IS a very hard thing to discern from all the posts (I can't even watch / read them all).

  6. benny, it's because this site isn't meant to be about me. I sometimes regret ever having commented at all as I feel I distract from the site when I do.

It's about what people are doing with synths and will hopefully be an interesting look back in time ten, twenty, fifty years from now. I would have loved to have seen what people were doing with synths on a daily basis in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and even 90s. Those days and their history is pretty much gone. I'm hoping this site will be that for some in time.

As for what I put up, there is a bar, otherwise it would be unmanageable for both me putting up the posts and you reading them as Aaron alludes to above. What's interesting though is when I started the site not much was going up on Flickr or YouTube so I was putting everything up. I had a goal of putting up at least five posts a day and there were times where I stressed I wouldn't make it. Now I rarely have less than 20+ a day. The day of NAMM I put up 70 posts. The week that followed I was averaging 50. Now it's back down to 30 which is manageable for me.

  7. Oh, and I pretty much find everything I put up interesting whether it's something I would pursue on my own or not. It's all good.

To reduce spam, comments for posts older than one week are not displayed until approved, usually same day. Do not insult people. For items for sale, do not ask if it is still available. Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.
