"Frank Serafine is an award-winning sound designer, sound supervisor and sound editor, who created nearly all of the sound effects for Tron. In this exclusive interview, Tron Wiki founder Max Petrosky discussed with Mr. Serafine about how some of the movie's most memorable sounds were created and how they were put together using technology no one have ever used before for sound editing."
You can find the interview on
Tron Wiki here. There is mention of the Fairlight, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, and Minimoog.

ReplyDeleteI heard there was a real big legal battle with the MCP, who challenged that since the sounds in Tron were all created during MCP cpu time that he owned the rights. Also, the MCP argued that Tom did not have the rights to copy the sounds from the ENCOM mainframe. The case was settled out of court by supplying the MCP with a highly redundant UPS system and a satellite newsgroup feed to the alt.* groups.
