KORG Kaoss Pad KP3 (3)

Anyone know if the KAOSSILATOR and KP3 would be redundant, or are the completely different beasts? I kind want both, but if the KP3 can do everything a KAOSSILATOR can, I'll only get it.

  1. I use the Kaoss Pad 3, and the Kaossilator through the mini-Kaoss Pad. The Kaossilator is totally different than the Kaoss Pad 3.

  2. I had the Kaossilator for three months, sold it when I realized that it was really not for me - I found use for six, eight of tne hundered "patches", really disliked the sounds (more music use out of an SX-150 for me). I am really picky with getting the right sound, it must be stated that I also love some noise and circuitbending while I consider most of it just garbled garbage.

KP3's got equally horrible synth & drum "patches", but with the KP3 you can resample utterly horrible into utterly awesome.

Kaossilator with KP3 would be four-track overdubbing and a lot of creative freedom. It's a great combination once you get into it and start transforming sounds, I'd definitely go for it if money is no real burden and you're comfortable with the interface.

  3. I've decided that my video of the Roland TR-626 and the KP3's worth possibly showing off, so here it is: http://www.viddler.com/explore/mrlonghair/videos/8/

Bad part is a segment in the middle where I try to figure out why the volume crashed down (figured it out later as a 'duh' experience).

What it is is an example of how it's used when improvising something, creating. Make beat, sample it, do effects-makeover cut & slice-job. Make beat to put on top, sample, effects-makeover cut&slice & resample job, combine the two and presto, some rather schranzy sounds.

Any old dirty drummer's got new potential with the KP3.
