Except the GUI I don't see any similarity to MC 202, the MC doesnt have MIDI. Weird app. Looks like another "wannabe" lookalike thingy.

ReplyDeleteamazing program to translate midi files into the audio needed for the tape in / backup. if i owned an MC-202 i'd find that very handy indeed. :)

ReplyDeletehmmm...it seems that one should be able to load the audio 202hack spits out into a sampler, and trigger the 202 that way, as long as you don't change the pitch
ReplyDeletei don't mind programming the 202 as it is, only being able to hold 1 pattern is what i don't like, this sounds like it might be a good way to integrate a mc202 into an ableton live set with ableton sending 202hack audio on a separate output to the 202
this gives me some ideas, very innovative software

ReplyDelete@pac - yes, please take a bit of a deeper dive. The softsynth aspect of the app is really quite minor, and more of a convenience than anything else.
@noisesource - thanks! What's especially new and cool in this version is that you can now go the other way too: from MC-202 sequence to MIDI file...
@natefrogg - the programming of the MC-202 from the app is not in real time - so triggering it from Ableton might be fine just to program the synth at the start of the track, but that's about it. Also, small detail, the MC-202 holds 2 sequences (though can only play 1 at a time).

ReplyDelete@ dan! thank you for clarification, when 2.0 comes out i'll still get it, i'm thinking i may be able to take the 202 out of the mix, stop the midi clock, dump a sequence into it with 202 hack, then use something like a mungosync to bring it right back into the mix again, things that make you go hmmm....
