Plugging your guitar and having a vst pitch follow the audio is awesome...KLC ms-20fx has about 4 good presets for doing naughty things like this with a guitar and no midi pickups and shit.

tried it... Surprising good. Great analog feel. REminds me the ESP on my old MS20.
