WATCHMATRIX

Pictured is my Oberheim Matrix-6 and the Jorg Grey 6500 Series Chronograph - Barrack Obama's watch. I started a new blog on watches, WATCHMATRIX. I'll be posting watches I like, and watches I find to be uniquely interesting. Check it out.

The Oberheim Matrix-6 was my first synthesizer, hence matrix.

  1. I haven't worn a watch since I was 8 and got a cool watch at Burger King. Maybe you can blog about old Burger King watches. Other then that I have no reason to read your watch blog. I refuse to wear anything on my wrists. Unless they made a synth to wear on the wrist.... Hmmmm.... TO THE LAB!

  5. Piggy - if capitalism had a moral compass, it might not be in its death throes. Unlimited growth, profit as sole justification... these things are not sustainable in the long term. Note I am not praising "socialism" or any competing ism.... only damning capitalism in its American form. Its power has been used for evil, and it deserves a kick in the teeth.
PS) Meanwhile, cell phones have all but killed the wristwatch.

  6. I'm with Captain Analog on the capitalism thing. (Do you moonlight as Captain Social Justice?)

Although I have to say that if I found **just** the right watch, I'd start wearing one again. It would be nice not to have to reach into my pocket and push a button to see what time it is.

I love hearing about people's idiosyncracies (having a few myself), so I thing the watch blog is great. I'll bookmark it.

  7. Hmm... It's not really about telling time as odd as that might sound. It's about the machines that they are. Little works of art. Kind of like synths actually. You could skip hardware altogether and go with free VSTs, but... there's just something about the physical. It's about the design - the look and feel of them.

Unlike synths though, there are thousands of different watches out there. I started the watch blog to keep track of the watches I like. Not sure where it's going to go, but it'll start as just a place to track the watches I find interesting. Now if I could only afford them... :)
