Wii controls LEMUR drums

"YAWD (Yet another Wii Demo). In this demo I have mapped the wii remote to trigger real drums. The amazing work is the LEMUR Percussion bots. I simply made a few MIDI connections in Max/MSP. I'm still working on a good acceleration to trigger (curve to point?) method. This current method is prone to double triggers when used with the LEMUR bots. This may be a function of MIDI message buffers and/or collisions in the output of Max (or my MIDI interface or the LEMUR firmware).

Any thoughts on quantization welcome... I was thinking if i knew more about machine learning it would be swell to train the quantization software to listen as I am playing and adjust the rules to fit with in the style I'm playing. The style training would have to happen in advance, but then it could adjust between swing time and speed metal quantization based on my playing (rather than pre-selecting the style...) Ideas for a Ph.D app?"
