  1. Why are there so many Blofeld's on ebay all the time? Is it not a good synth?

  2. Don't know why they are always on ebay. For the first 6 months they were hard to get. I bought one and used it on a couple songs. It's not a bad synth, it just happens I got a really great deal on a Roland Alpha Juno 2 right after.

Imho, Blofeld will only be truly fully realized when a vst editor comes out, official or 3rd party.

  3. The keyboard version also came out. Could be some are selling to go that route.

  4. a few things to consider: many people buy it without using it because they have more cash to blow and never really use it. you see lots of "i've owned it for 8 months and used it for no more than 2 hours.

the blofeld is pretty overwhelming as far as editing. simply because there's alot of depth to it. it is a deep synth.. onboard editing is not hard by any means but it will take a longer time then if there was an editor.

the editor will be released soon..

no audio inputs and midi out means it's going to be limited in a larger workstation or live rig.. it will always be at the end of a chain.

i personally would of gone for the virus snow if i could but the price is hard to justify with the blofeld around..

the blofeld really is a good synth and really worth the money. it had alot of bugs but they're great with the updates. seems like they put a good amount of processing on the sound itself and especially the filters which is a pretty important and key component to a synth's sound.. and the blofeld shines there.. the drive curves on the filters are amazing..

just got the sample option unlocked on the desktop so i'm sure it will make this already great synth much more versatile..

i'm happy with it for what i use it for, which is an expander module for my wind controller.. but i can definately see why it wouldn't work for others considering what they needed to do to cut corners and open the market up to people who don't have around a grand to spend on a synth..

i'd say if you found one on the second hand market for around 400 you got a steal!!!!

  6. Computer Controlled, how much you want for your x0xb0x?

  7. I'm the seller of this particular one, and I can at least tell you my reason for selling it: I bought it as a complement for my Virus TI. As it turns out, the Blo *is* a good synth for the money, but sound and capabilities aren't different enough from the Virus.

The major beef I have with the Blo are the filters though. I don't know, but I simply don't like them. You can hardly push them before they start sounding like broken glass. Maybe that's the Waldorf sound that fans are talking about, but it's just not my thing.

I think the Blofeld is perfect for someone who's new to synths and wants a box that does not suck. It really is a good synth with an exceptionally good price and fantastic editing. The UI is much better than what you have to live with on the Virus.

Now if only Waldorf hadn't crippled the "randomize" function in their latest firmware update... They need to have this as a dedicated button like on the Virus.

So in the end, for me it's not the lack of a VST editor (I prefer knobs, thank you) but simply the fact that there's a TI on my desk next to my MM and MD. There's nothing coming out of the Blo that the Virus can't do anyway. And that's perfectly alright, considering the price tag of the Blofeld vs Virus. It is a good synth, just not for people who already have a TI.
