good samaritan story:
ReplyDelete2 years back, saw an AX-60 on local craigslist for $80. listing said it was not working. called the guy up, he said it powered up but was making weird noises and he figured it was shot. didn't have time nor money to get it fixed.
drove down after work, met at his apartment to check it out. I power it up and it's doing what he described. wondering if he hacked the insides and whether the CEM's have been abused, I ask to open it. we unscrew the the top lid and all is pristine and complete inside.
for some reason, while fishing around for loose connections, etc (none) I decide to press down and firmly seat the CEMs in their sockets. we close the lid and he turns it back on once more. now it plays perfect.
very respectfully and kindly, he says that he'd now rather keep it and he thanks me profusely. what I can do but smile and say, "You're welcome?"
I'm sure I've received a karmic payback for that good deed somewhere along the line, but I walked out of his apartment building pretty dejected.
Wow, you did good. Now if that were at a Guitar Center...
