Did the first few hundred have clear wheels? I have number 48 and the wheels are solid white.
ReplyDeleteSerial number 1401 should have smooth white or ribbed white wheels. Only earlier R.A. Moog and Musonic models had transparent wheels. As for serial 48, that makes no sense since serial numbers started at 1000. Do you mean 1048?

From what I've gathered, the ribbed white wheels came later on, in higher numbered models from the mid 70's. The metal faceplate and clear wheels carried over into some of the very early moog music models as they transitioned to the newer parts. These are generally from early to mid 72', with serial numbers up to around 1450 or so.
ReplyDeleteJust in case anyone wonders, I'm the original owner of this beauty and it came with these clear wheels. I bought it in '72, in Buffalo, after getting demo at the Moog factory then located in Williamsville.
