Korg Polysix Synthesizer

via this auction BIN: $777.77
"As you can see in the above pictures this synth has an extra "printer cable" style connector that has been added to the side. The different wires leading to this connector connect to the individual keys of the keyboard. I did not do this mod and dont know exactly what its used for, but my best guess is that it was used to control another synthesizer that didnt have its own keyboard. If anyone has more details about what it could be please let me know. The modification does not affect the playability of the synth itself. I was thinking of removing it, but then there would be a hole in the case so I decided not to.

Korg Polysix's are best known for their leaking battery problems. The original battery was made to last 10 years after which they can spill acid over the circuit board. This is what has happened to this one, but I have replaced the original battery with a brand new one of a type that WILL NOT explode and done the necessary repairs to make the synth work properly with it. All the damaged traces have been cut and reconnected on the underside of the board as originally intended. The IC 31 chip was also replaced with a new one as it had suffered damage from the corrosion.

The new battery stores patches perfectly. I had no problems loading a set of original patches through the tape in connector."

Sold For: $669.99
