ReplyDeleteProbably because it's a SynthEdit VST. Just to put that into perspective, a licence key for SynthEdit itself - and v1.1 at that, so without the multicore bug that afflicts this and every other SEv1.0-developed plugin - costs $50.
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of SynthEdit, the one thing that annoys me about SE plugins above all else is their habit of puking their guts all over the VST directory. Apparently this is done by design, but it pretty much doubles the amount of space required on the disk, and leaves you with lots and lots of copies of the same few SEMs. It also means you can't have read-only VST directories. Why it is beyond the ken of the SE runtime to simply save DLLs in a format which allows easy extraction of those SEMs, and reopen the DLL file as data... *shrug*
