I could make some comment about the relative wisdom of posting a comment which rails against other people posting comments, but I'd have to link it to itself, which would just get complicated.

I've given up on my crusade to have two terms: "circuit bending" and "modifying"
for me, c.b. is when you lick your fingers and slap them down on random PCB points while the thing is on and listen for weird/fun stuff. write that down, add a switch or pot or vactrol later. can be a lot of fun, but doesn't require much in the way of knowledge or planning.
modifying is when you think that your synth could use some extra panel control over the filter for each voice, or would be more useful if it had an external input to the VCF. It usually involves using the schematics, deciding on the needed components, possibly breadboarding, then adding that to the synth. it's also fun, but in a planned kind of way and often results in a predictable control. this post is an example I think of modifying.
I do enjoy both, but I feel the latter should be respected for what it is.
Not that I'm a purist, but methinks circuit bending should be confined to pointless Metasonix-like shitty sound design...

Start bending SR-16s, those things are worthless! Leave the analogue stuff alone.
