"Dig og mig" - on Siel DK-80

YouTube via organfairy — April 29, 2010 — "'Dig og Mig' ( = You and me) was originally recorded in the mid 1980's by Danish one-hit-wonders "Dieters Lieder". Here I play it in multi track on the Siel DK-80 synthesizer and Korg Rhythm 55 drum machine.

Rumour has it that Dieters Lieder broke up because they couldn't get air time on Danish television. It might seem odd today where anyone can get their 15 minutes of fame - and maybe even more - on the internet. But in the 1980's television was the number one media when it came to gaining stardom if you were a singer or musician. In countries with only one TV channel - like Denmark was at that time - the head of music department at that one channel could therefore literally singlehandedly decide who was going to be famous and who would forever stay in oblivion.

The reason this song became a hit was because it was included in the soundtrack of a popular comedy series that Danish television bought from an independant film production company."
