All these Metasonix things (and that's all their gear) seem to do is make different degrees of distorted, muffled noise - WTF is the point? Such expensive one-trick ponies.
ReplyDeleteThe Novachord and Clavioline prove that tube-based instruments can make useful, beautiful and even ethereal sounds - so where are the demos that can show Metasonix's musical side? I've yet to hear anything other than this dreck.
"That dreck" is what some people like sometimes, ethereal and beautiful is what most people like most of the time. Distorted, muffled noise is useless to you, apparently, but useful to others, obviously.
ReplyDeleteAlso the world of musical instruments has always been full of one-trick ponies. Combine a few one-trick ponies and things start to happen. The drum kit is an example. Single out any drum or cymbal and it gets boring fast.
I've never felt the urge to try or seek out Metasonix or similar sounding instruments myself, but I understand that others like them and I'd never rule out the possibility that I might do too at some point in the future. The price of Metasonix stuff probably reflect the man-hours put into making it.
