André Stordeur

"This is André Stordeur‘s unique solo LP, released 1979 on Brussels’ Igloo Records. Stordeur is a Belgian modular synthesizer specialist with a fondness for Serge, EMS and Moog gearing (see my Wikipedia article for biographical details). Innumerable Stordeur patchs and filters for the Serge await the aficionado on the Internet. During the 1970s, Stordeur was a member of the Studio voor Experimentele Muziek, an experimental music ensemble founded by Joris De Laet in Antwerp, Flanders.."

"SEM-Studio voor Experimentele Muziek °1973 Antwerp - Belgium
Analoge electronic music studio until 1980
This video shows the members of the SEMensemble of that time: Paul Adriaenssens, performing amplified objects, Korg synthesizer MS20, flute and seashell, Pieter Kuyl,Chapmanstick and synthesizer, Maurice Verstuyft, flute and synthesizer, and myself trying to explain the musical sens of the electronics. This is only a part of the movie. The music is a set of different extraits of compositions and the sound is typical for that time. The end shows a concert were a modular synthesizer is controlled by one of the first computers that allowed to be programmed in Basic. A custom made set of DAC's, constructed by Rudi Blondia, allows digital and algoritmic control over the analogue sound parameters, acting as an automatic pilot for the composition rules. Since then I describe my music as 'music for the parameters', or parametric music."
