Shoal 0.2

Shoal 0.2 from made by robot on Vimeo.

"Alpha release of shoal, an x,y chaotic movement midi generator with point avoidance, controlled by the Monome 256.

The video is a simple ableton demo set with 2 Simpler (sample) tracks and a base. There are 16 CC channels mapped to various aspects of those 3 tracks, in the Simpler tracks I control sample start position and length with one of them, which leads to some pretty chaotic outcomes.

Still some bugs with the press event handlers (as can be seen in the clip), sometimes a "creation" press, results in an "avoidance" press.

Shoal currently supports 16 fish instances, each of those generates x,y midi cc output, so a total of 32 channels of midi data.

With refresh rates from 5ms/step up to minutes per step. At 5ms I found that ableton or max just couldn't keep up.
