discjockey number 1 - Sarah Simms

flickr By StephenCaissiePhoto

"I was helping out a friend and fellow photographer on Wednesday. He owns a studio but doesn’t have any proper studio lighting, so I volunteered my gear in exchange for getting the chance to do some shooting. This is one of the shots I took of Toronto-based DJ Sara Simms. I’ll hopefully be posting a few more in the weeks ahead as I retouch them.

Mamiya 645 AFD with ZD digital back. 1/125" @ f/11, 45mm f/3.5 lens. ISO 100, WB flash.

Post in Capture One, retouching in Photoshop.

Strobist info: Photogenic Powerlight 1500SL at 1/2 power in 5' octobox behind camera about 7' up. SB-800 bare at 1/2 power to camera left, Pentax flash bare at full power to camera right, Canon 580EX duct-taped to a pole and held above her as a hair light by my assistant."

Analogue Solutions Telemark & rack, monome.
