"Sequential circuits, after the great Prophet 5 and the VS, turned to sampling. The 2000/2002 has the same crunchy 12-bit sampling as it's contemporary the S950, but unlike the 950 had a real analog VCF and VCA on each voice. The 2002 plus is the studio pro version with 512K of memory (double the usual) and 8 individual outs (plus the stereo main). Intended as a true synthesizer that used samples instead of VCOs, it's extremely flexible and musical, but it of course also knocks hard on drums, letting you get just the crunch you want, but also letting you but warm things like crashes and hats up nicely with the filters..."
