Though the flames never touched the synth, the room got hot enough to warp the last octave of keys as can be seen in the pics. This causes a few of the keys to stick when playing through the keyboard. Another result is that the P5 will shut down sometimes for no apparent reason. Maybe something overheats? Not sure. We have been able sometimes to keep it on for days, and other times it only lasts an hour or so. The led readout sometimes flickers off, but a tap on the panel brings it back. Once the unit shuts down, restarting brings it right back, and the memory contents survive. The key contacts probably need cleaning after the smoke, but we used the midi, which seems to be working fine. The panel is pretty darn clean, though the wood could use some oil or stain since the heat dried it out. Serial #4931."
