Instead of a "virtual" PPG, you get a *REAL* PPG with all the trimmings packed in a rackmount unit and a VST instrument --- the best of both worlds. I know just how hard it is to get the right card to work with this unit so I am including, as pictured, the exact laptop PCMCIA card for the USB port that plugs into the WALDORF AFB16. You will need WINDOWS-XP with SERVICE PACK-1...

The AFB16 Analog Filter Bank was the Waldorf's most unique and prized "analog plug-in", making it a one-of-a-kind unique innovation that integrated years of experience of Waldorf’s analog-digitial technology from the WAVE and the PPG with the flexibility of a digital musical computer system, the Waldorf AFB16 is wonderful sounding and integrates into modern DAW's. Connecting the AFB16 to the computer using a standard USB cable, the AFB16 automatically integrates itself into the digital production environment making 16 real analog filters available to any compatible host system. Full dynamic control of the filters is achieved inside the host system and plug-ins like the ROT Analog Filter Step Sequencer, the PPG Red or the Messing.

ROT (German for "red") is a pattern based step sequencer that is capable of producing tempo-synchronized filter patterns for cutoff and resonance.
The PPG Red is a classic wavetable synthesizer, at last with real analog filters.
MESSING (German for “brass”) makes extensive use of the Waldorf AFB-16’s analog VCA’s to distort stereo or mono signals reaching from warm, analog saturation to brute overdrive.

Now for the fun stuff:

1) This unit sounds incredible --- I have used it on many professional productions to get that gritty real sound that only hardware can provide --- you will never get this sound from a virtual instrument. This is the unit to get as it does more than the Microwave and has 16 channels of real analog filters with the PPG voices. It is a truly unique, one of a kind and amazing instrument.

2) The Auction includes the ROT Analog Filter Step Sequencer VST, the PPG Red VST and the the Messing VST instrument.

3) It is in great condition and and works with the card as provided from a working studio. As with all gear, it is sold as-is but you can email me for pointers and help to get it setup.

4) The 16 analog lowpass filters can be driven into self oscillation and the unit is designed so that you can overdrive the real warm analog VCA's. Each filter has a 12/24 dB per octave response.

5) Forget about crappy VST sound, these are the fattest filters in existence and you can route other synth signals into this box to get pure heavenly Waldorf wave power!!!"
