"The ARP Little Brother was designed as an add-on for anyone who owned a 1-, 2-, or 3-oscillator synthesizer such as an ARP Axxe, Odyssey or 2600. By connecting 4 cables (for Control Voltage, Gate, Trigger and Audio) the Little Brother could provide an additional oscillator voice to any synthesizer. The distinctive feature of the LIttle Brother was the fact that the additional oscillator could be heard in up to 4 octaves simultaneously, so that a 2-oscillator synthesizer (such as an Odyssey) could now be sounding 6 pitches for each key pressed. The Little Brother was built for 1 volt/octave systems, so that it could be added to a number of other synthesizers, not just the ARP models.

The Little Brother also has a separate Low Frequency Oscillator as well, with front panel controls for frequency, depth (amplitude) and a delay switch so that the LFO kicks in a short time after the trigger voltage stars a note, creating a more natural vibrato. The LFO output (sine wave only) is also available on the back panel to be used as an additional modulation source. The visual style is the same as early (pre-black/orange) ARP models, but with walnut end panels, making it look more like the ARP String Ensemble or Explorer.
