"MECHANICAL MAN IS YOUR FREEDOM OF CHOICE :
This is the first ever DEVO App utilizing one of the most influential bands of the last 40 years. The App includes never-before-heard music and sounds remastered from the DEVO archives that you can use to create new music plus thousands of artistic assets that you can utilize to create your very own DEVOBOT Robot, digital or Vinyl. This is the DEVO App that fans have been waiting for.
KIT ROBOT in collaboration with DEVO:
DEVO Modular Synthesizer featuring unreleased Devo music & sounds from their archives, coupled with a Devo Robot Maker: A TWO in ONE App Available for your device...
The Story:
Kit Robot was founded in Oct 2010 by myself (Remo Camerota) with Kiyoshi Kohatsu and Hisako Emura. This independent team, using minimal funds, worked hard for 8 months and finally launched their first application titled Lovebots for iPhone and ipad in Jan 2011. The application was the first ever digital Robot maker, like Lego or Mr Potato head, but digital. The application was well received and quickly rose to number 1 on the iTunes charts. It was extremely popular in Asia and the USA where It ranked No 1 top Entertainment app in Japan, and in the top 20 in the USA, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, UK, Peru, Mexico, Vietnam, India, Portugal and many more. Lovebots was reviewed as App of the Day by Gizmodo, Boing Boing, Wired, singularity hub and many other blogs, making it viral throughout 2011.
So I decided to take the Lovebots app and introduce myself to Devo with the idea of creating the DevoBots app based on DEVO and the Devolution ethos and cross it with our popular app, Lovebots. Because the band DEVO are highly visual and immersed within the arts, I knew that it would be a great fit. I wanted to take DEVOs music, outfits, personas and artwork from the past 40 years and create new artwork inspired by this, for a new generation of fan and mobile device users. So the band loved the idea and were very happy for us to proceed in creating this unique, official Devo App.So DevoBots was born and we began our long journey.
A two in one App.
DevoBots is a digital robot assembly kit and it is also a music synthesizer. The user can create millions of robots out of the box using DevoBot assets to build their very own DEVO, mimicking the bands outfits and personas from the past 40 years. And Devobots is also a modular synthesizer where the user can play, mix and record their very own music and sounds by using and manipulating original, unreleased DEVO sounds and music from banks of sounds stored within the app.
As the app evolves, users will also be able download new Asset and Sound packs as they become available through In App Downloads. This will make the app ever expanding and modular, being able to download 'add ons' to keep the app growing.
Other Features include outputting Devobots as online avatars, desktop images, posters, Tee shirts and apparel, animations mixed with your music creation within the app and you will also be able to create Vinyl Toy Figurine designs, that you can submit to Kit Robot from the app, for creation.
How It Works:
The user picks from thousands of high quality designed assets to mix and match on your device within the DevoBots App. Using the buttons featured in the interface, you use these to choose Unique Heads, Eyes, Arms, Legs etc and create your very own DevoBot. From here you save the artwork, upload it to Facebook, twitter, flickr, etc, for your friends to see. You can use it as an avatar for online social use, print posters, T Shirts, shoes or post cards, or mix it with the music to create a dancing/singing DevoBot. The user can also send in their creation to be featured on the DevoBot fan website, the upcoming Kit Robot Book, or to order Vinyl figures of your design..."
